Dog Sitting

Well it has been an interesting few days...

I have a new profession and that is (drum roll)--- a dog sitter...

Has been a great learning curve for me... I have been learning how to clean up after a dog... feed him... take him for walks... and basically the joys of owning a dog... Well he is a really cute dog and guess the change of environment was a bit too traumatic for his little system- he was peeing and pooping in the weirdest of places... But well now I am armed with a little bag, paper towels and him when we go out ready to pick up after him...

I think I am going to miss him when he is gone... he is really attached and is constantly walking around with me... well any movement from me and he is up and ready to rock and roll... the good thing of course is he sleeps inthe living room at night but (that is after a lot of coaxing and me just about lying there with him) is up bright and early waiting for me outside my bedroom door every morning... He thought he could be a sneak last night and fall asleep in my room instead....

Okie now for the formal introduction...

This is Jersey (technically my cousin's dog) Now a temporary resident in my place... Was told that he makes a run for it when the door is open but hey no such episodes as of yet... he makes a run for it when he is leashed up ready for his walk... man he really runs!!!!

His present position as I am writing this blog... right at the doorway to the room... making sure and checking that I am still around... Oh and btw, I officially smell like dog! He licks me every morning both wrists and ankles to make sure it is the right scent! No need for perfume!

But all in all he is a great dog no fuss at all... happy to sleep and walk and play...

Food

Food is suppose to be a necessity of life... But the reality of it is,,,
Some taste better than others...
Too much food is evil....
Now dark chocolate is not as healthy as they think cause some manufacturers remove the
flavinoids which makes it bitter...
Good deserts are a good friend
High teas are great as there is no need for either lunch or dinner (well technically at least...)
'tis the season to overindulge and it is the start of a cycle of feasting and more feasting...

Christmas

It is the time of year where the feasting starts and all the rounds of shopping....

Well been trying to cut down on the food for obvious reasons... but can't resist a good desert once in a while...

Funny Stories..

1) I was out at a function the other nite and was about to attack my dark chocolate mousse slice... Decided to take a photo of it before I destroy it but I just about dropped the camera into it instead... Plop went the camera and squish went the cake... Now my camera smells like chocolate instead!

2) I went for my massage the other day, and it is suppose to be a relaxing time and all but hey I couldn't stop laughing... It was so ticklish and I was laughing my head off.. think everybody within a 200m radius could hear me laughing away.... But in saying that massages are good... Am addicted to them now... Some say it is such a "lady of leisure" thing....

3) I am officially blind... Am cooking Christmas dinner tonight and needed to get some red onions... went to the supermarket to get some yesterday and had to ask for help and hey presto they were just about below my nose! Sigh...

Well guess I should get on with my day and hope that there are no disasters today....

Creature Comforts

My friend whom I was out with today told me that I have become too western for my own good and "Why am I in Singapore?"

Good question... I don't know too...

Well lets see, I got really excited and a high when I found Weis Mango Sorbet the other day and quickly grabbed a tub to savor and devour.... Thanks to Ray for introducing it to me... Now I can't live without it....

I went out and got myself a box- yes a box of Cheezels Minis and some chocolate Freddos... Okay they were really expensive as I paid close to $10 for 3 Freddos, a share pack of Maltesers and 1 mini Flake... But it was all worth it when the taste sensation hit my mouth and it made me feel all warm and wonderful on the inside and not so homesick... It was my comfort food that made me feel right again.... Some little things that make all the difference in the world....

Tourist in My own Country

A friend and I decided to be tourists in Singapore- hehe... It was a rather interesting day to do so, for starters it is the Monsoon season and hence rain is the order of the day.... But no, had to go over to Sentosa which is an island for half the day...

The lovely entrance cards that got us onto the Sky train and onto the island... I did not have any friend on this trip and don't think they would have enjoyed the rain (Should I take the Snowman or the Bunny next time?)
Cafe Del Mar a really wonderful place to chill and enjoy the music- there is a bed to relax on if needed too... I love the bar in the pool (Which is restricted to people over the age of 18 DUH!)

Its a wonder the Sandcastle survived the rain... Couldn't get a close up shot of it as I was on the tram dodging the rain....
Deadly Peacocks that attack cars and people... Would rather run from them than become their next target....
There is something about taking lines that appeals to me... I don't know what it is but it just makes things interesting...

Journey on the tram that goes in a loop- the amazing thing is the stop button on board- there are designated stops and we still can't figure out why there is the button! Hmm any ideas?
Peek-a-boo! Cab you spot the stature?

Just another monument- which was busy chiming Christmas Carols on the hour- sounded very different...

Okay all in all, it was a really enjoyable day as there were lots to see and do, shall return on a sunny day to really soak in the sights and sounds.... Watch this space....

Harry Potter

Finally found the time to finish Book 7 of the Harry Potter series... All's well that ends well.... I have been staying up reading it... but in saying that, I did not read book 6 but in a way I guess it is no loss at the moment... Don't think I will go back and read it either... No desire to do so...

Book 7 made interesting read and glad to have finished it... Guess I will have to find something else to read now...

Other than that, life has been pretty mundane hence there isn't anything interesting to blog or brain fart about...

hmmm

What can I say? Let's see...

the stupid computer has a new RAM- hopefully it will fix the problem
I have no MS Office now on this machine...
The computer is a useful DVD player for nite entertainment...
To much feasting and too little walking are not good friends...
Eating carbohydrates keeps me up at nite cause I feel really guilty...
Been Christmas shopping which has been lots of fun...

Guess thats the story of my life at the moment... not very exciting at all... Oh and Yum Cha here is a pretty expensive affair- very little for a lot of money....

New beginning

Well don't think it would be appropriate to write on joyinsydney.bogspot.com as that chapter of my life has ended... Hence the new name and new outlook (I Hope!)

I have been back in Singapore for a week now and it is still taking a lot of getting used to... Don't know if I ever will at this stage... Just started looking for new jobs and trying to figure out my next step... Have accepted an offer to study some more and that will be an adventure!
